Family night

When I was growing up, every year my mom would make sugar cookies, and my family would sit around and decorate them. I always remember it being fun. It was always fun to see what different ways everyone would decorate their cookies. So this year, I decided to make sugar cookies. It was a lot of fun. I tried to get Annika to decorate, but she was a lot better at undecorating them. It was fun to watch though.

Annika has started folding her arms. Whenever we sit down at the table she folds her arms. It is really cute. When we are saying the prayer she thinks that we are playing a big game of peak a boo. She just looks around at everyone (while our eyes are closed) and laughs. Then when we say Amen, she just smiles. It is a fun game. I am just glad that she knows that is what we do when we sit down at the table.

Annika loves wearing her necklaces, and has them on pretty much from the time she wakes up until she goes to bed everynight. In one of the pictures above you will see a rather interesting necklace. If you look closely you will notice it is a spiral plastic cord, with aligator clips at each end. (Normally used by a dentist to hold on your spit rag!) :) Thanks to Aunt Heidi, Annika has been sporting this beauty around all week. Anything that will go around her neck! Thanks Heidi she loves it!

Happy Valentines Day everyone!

Sick Baby

Lately I have been reading blogs about everyone's kids getting sick. I would read them and think, oh that's not fun. Well This week, Annika decided to get sick. She woke up Wednesday morning with a cough, and it just seemed to get worse on Thursday morning. So we went to the Dr. I never know when exactly to take your kid to the Dr. I don't want to be one of those mom's that takes them in for every little thing, but I did take her in. The diagnosis.... She has a cold! Great. it was just what I thought and there wasn't a whole lot I could do. She did have a fever of 101 so we gave her Tylenol and have just been waiting for it to pass. It is so sad to have her look at me with her red puffy eyes, that are watering, and then to hear her talk, and it sounds all horse. I felt so bad for her. In the mean time. All of the fun things I had planned for this week didn't get done. I have just been home.... So Aubrey I am so sorry. I really did want to hang out while you were down here. I have to say though, I have gotten more good cuddles with Annika the past couple days than I have in quite a while. I think that she is starting to feel better. She is running around more, and cry a little less. Hopefully we won't have to deal with more sickness for a while.

Update

Goodness it seems like things around here have been so busy. Yesterday we took Alli to the MTC. Sometimes I just wonder why they do that to families. It is a good thing, but you sit there and wait for the movie to start and they are showing all of the "family it's about time" ads and well some of them, just made me tear up a little. I guess it is a good thing, you go and you realize yet again how important your family is to you! It was great! Her farewell was last week, and we came home with a new pet. She said it was our housewarming gift. Alli had a beta fish named hootie. (like hootie and the blow fish). So now I have a fish in a bowl on my kitchen counter. Annika always wants to just sit on the counter and look at the fish. We feed him every morning, and she likes to try and drop pieces of her cereal in there for him.
The other day, I was kinda board in the morning, so Annika and I made her a necklace out of fruit loops. She loves wearing necklaces, and anything that is long she will put it over her head and try to wear it around like a necklace. It was a lot of fun. She hasn't figured out that she can eat the fruit loops off of it yet, so she might be wearing this necklace around for quite some time.
When we moved into our house I was afraid of Annika and the stairs. It was only a couple of days after we moved in and she had figured it all out. I guess now going down the stairs backwards is boaring because she trys to go down them standing up and forward. She has figured out that when she gets to the banister she can hold on to them and walk down. What a stinker, she just likes to get my heart pumping, and I guess she thinks she needs to be bigger! She is growing up way to fast.

Brian is enjoying his new job, and we are enjoying our new house, and getting to know more people in our neighborhood.

Happenings

Well Sorry that it has been a while since I posted. Things have been crazy around here! Brian started his new job yesterday, and is excited to be back at work. We still have boxes throughout the house, and I am still trying to get organized. We love our new house, it is just taking some time to get adjusted, and situated.
I just thought that I would catch you up on a few of the things that we have been up to.

Annika got moved in. Annika really liked playing in the boxes.

We had a wonderful Christmas. We got spoiled, and enjoyed spending time with family.

We got a lot of snow at our house, so we got to go buy a snow shovel. Annika loves playing in all the Snow. I don't think it has ever snowed so much in my whole life, it is just because we get to shovel a driveway now.

Brian went Ice fishing with his family. (sounds cold to me!) So me and Annika stayed home, and stayed warm. We did enjoy eating the fish that Brian brought home.

On New Years we went Ice Skating with Brian's family. It was fun, but I think we only lasted about 5 min. Let's just say the Ice Skates weren't very comfortable. But then we went back to the house and enjoyed some great fondue!

Annika tried curling her hair with Grandma LeBaron's curlers.

Annika and McKell were exhausted after we went shopping all day long.

We have been busy, but it has been such a wonderful holiday season.
We hope that all of you had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!

My Graduate and My One year old

This weekend was a busy one, but it was so much fun! First on Saturday Brian graduated from Utah State! Wahoo! Way to go Brian!

Of course we couldn't have a beautiful December day, it decided to drop some snow, on our drive up to Utah State we passed a truck sliding sideways down 4th north. It was scary but we made it up there. Graduation went on and Brian and all the other graduates got to walk from the field house to the spectrum through the snow! what a memorable day! I am so proud of Brian, for all of his hard work! Way to Go Bri!

Then on Sunday Annika turned one! It is so crazy that it has already been a year. Brian's family actually came up Friday night for graduation so we did a party with them on Friday night,
then we did a party with my family on Sunday night. Annika got spoiled by her grandma and grandpa's and aunts and uncles. She has lots of new toys! Thanks everyone! She ate her cake, but she didn't make a huge mess.

I think she gets dirtier just eating her dinner, I guess my frosting wasn't messy enough. It was a lot of fun Celebrating. I just can't believe that Annika is one! I think about it, and how nice it would be to have a little baby who doesn't move again. But she is so much fun and gets funner and smarter everyday.

On Monday night we went to the Mall and Annika got to sit on Santa Clause's Lap. I really thought that she was going to cry or at least not want to sit on his lap, but she just sat and looked at him. I couldn't understand what she asked him for, I hope he understood it, so that she will get it for Christmas!
